Join Repair Affair and make a real difference in the lives of individuals right here in Boyd County!

We’re mobilizing volunteers to ensure homes are safe, secure, and weatherized, contributing to neighborhood stability. This isn’t about decorating or remodeling—it’s about essential repairs that change lives. No matter your skill level, you can help! Volunteer teams are matched with homes based on team size and skills. Whether you’re a team of 15 or just one, we need YOU!

Volunteer Information

Some teams are very skilled at home repairs. Others may have no experience at all. That’s okay – we will match your team to an appropriate home. Even if you can’t swing a hammer, there are many other volunteer opportunities available. We will need volunteers for all aspects of the day from preparing lunch to being a runner. We expect to have volunteers from churches, corporations, agencies, social clubs, workplace teams, school groups, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, etc.

How are projects matched to volunteers?
Based on what repairs are needed, we match the skill set of the volunteers to the repairs. We discuss with the volunteer(s) prior to the event what is required to complete the repair and discuss possible time frame to complete the repair(s). Other than paint roller cages, roller covers and brushes, volunteers will be required to bring their own tools for their projects.

Event Day
This is the first year Repair Affair will be held for unincorporated Boyd County. The Repair Affair is an event that will be tentatively scheduled annually on the last Saturday of September.

On Event Day, the volunteers will meet at Westwood Park at 7:30AM for a brief review of the day’s activities, as well as coffee and a quick breakfast. Teams will also check-in and receive their free shirts and the Repair Affair staff will be available for any last-minute questions. This is a time when volunteers meet other teams and see the diversity of Repair Affair’s great volunteers. Lunch is also provided at Westwood Park the day of the event around 11:30AM.
